Explore the concept
CircleBridge’s foundational projects begin with relationships to knowledge bearers. The Wolakota chapter describes protocols in specific encounters, and the North Dakota chapter shows why intertribal differences need attention. A respectful partnership does not assume that a practice in one account applies everywhere. It asks who should guide the work, how participation is invited, what contributors may review, and what reciprocity means. The reader’s task is to learn from the relevant people rather than extract a story and add it to an existing plan.
A practice to try
Ask a prospective partner how they would like the relationship and request to begin. Clarify purpose, permission, review, and how the work benefits contributors.
