Explore the concept
The inner teacher points to learning that emerges through attention to one’s own experience. The authors invite readers to notice reactions to poems, stories, questions, and silence. An emotion can become an opening to inquiry: what is being touched, and why? This is not a claim that every immediate feeling is a reliable instruction. Reflection gives the feeling context and allows it to be considered alongside relationships and responsibilities. Shared practices make room for personal insight without handing interpretation over to someone else.
A practice to try
After reading a short text, record the phrase that stays with you and what it brings to mind. Wait before deciding what you should do.
