Explore the concept
The book distinguishes Perceived Orientation, Developmental Orientation, and the Orientation Gap. The authors pair individual results with a one-hour debrief and begin through storytelling. That context helps keep a profile from becoming a label or a source of shame. The personal accounts show why life circumstances and interpretation matter to the conversation. This companion offers explanations and journal prompts, not an IDI assessment, scoring tool, or substitute for an individual debrief. A reader’s own estimate of an orientation remains a reflection rather than an assessed result.
A practice to try
If you have an IDI profile, bring a concrete experience and a question to the practitioner guiding your debrief. If you do not, use the concepts to examine an interaction without assigning a score.
